Surfr 4.1

The safety release. The beacon brings your emergency contacts into the session, light mode arrives, and you get real control over what reaches you.

• Beacon safety. Arm the beacon and your emergency contacts follow the session live. Raise the alarm from your watch and it reaches them straight away, with your last known position, loud enough to cut through Do Not Disturb. You see who it got to.

• Light mode. A full light theme across the app, opening as an opt-in beta. Dark stays the default until you switch.

• Notification control. A preferences screen for what reaches you, muting per rider, and separate settings for email.

The beacon and Friend Alarm alert the contacts you choose. They never contact the emergency services.

July update

Bug fixes and maintenance, delivered over the air. No store update needed.

• Fixes across the app. A round of stability and polish work on the issues riders reported most.

Surfr 4.0

The biggest release we have shipped. Every screen rebuilt, wind brought inside the app, and a new PRO.

• Redesigned UI. Every screen rebuilt. Cleaner hierarchy, sharper typography, deliberate motion.

• Wind, in Surfr. Forecasts and alerts now live inside the app, cross-checked across multiple weather models with high-resolution regional data.

• Social feed. A For You feed, comments with mentions and GIFs, and friends.

• PRO Insights. Per-jump scoring with qualitative ratings and a progression chart, on the new Plus and PRO plans.

• Wear OS 2.0. A full companion app for Android watches, with live jump detection on the wrist.

• Sharper wind alerts. Filter alerts by wind direction, set a lower minimum wind speed, and see your favourite direction per spot.

Discover became a map you actually want to open, and we laid the groundwork for shipping updates faster.

• Discover tab redesign. Full-screen map with spot cards and the wind forecast right where you are looking.

• Leaderboards in the nav. The Live tab became Leaderboards.

• Over-the-air updates. The foundation that lets improvements reach you without waiting for a store release.

Wear OS update

A big update for Android watches, closing the gap with the Apple Watch experience.

• Closer to parity. Recording, on-wrist metrics, and session sync brought in line with the Apple Watch app.

• Newer Android platform. Rebuilt on Android SDK 35, with GPS behaviour fixes on Galaxy Watch.

• Surfr Wrapped 2025. Your season in numbers, built to be shared. Opened with a video recap of the year.

• Social Sharing 2.0. Rebuilt session sharing, from the card out.

• New onboarding. A rebuilt sign-up flow with profile completion, so your profile is yours from day one.

Notifications that tell you something happened, and a profile that looks like you.

• Push notifications. Get told when something happens on your sessions, and tap straight through to the session it is about.

• Real names and profile pictures. First and last name on your profile, with a picture, instead of a username pulled from your email.

• A clearer route to PRO. The upgrade flow rebuilt inside the app.

• Faster session list. Sessions load with placeholders instead of a blank screen, and the leaderboard stopped fighting your scroll.

Surfr 3. Links that open the right screen, Garmin properly connected, and rewards for bringing your crew.

• Deep links. A shared session or profile link now opens that session or profile, even if the app was closed.
